Overview
Perched on Castle Hill above the Danube's western bank, Buda Castle has served as the residence of Hungarian kings since the 13th century. Today it houses the Hungarian National Gallery and the Budapest History Museum and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The view of the Danube and Pest at night ranks among the world's most beautiful urban panoramas. A medieval underground labyrinth and Matthias Church are also within easy reach. Grounds free; National Gallery about HUF 3,200 (EUR 9). Take the funicular from Clark Adam Square (about HUF 2,000).
