Overview
Completed in 1905, this is Hungary's largest church and, at 96m, co-equal in height with Parliament as Budapest's tallest building. The Neoclassical exterior and lavish interior are striking, and the mummified right hand of St. Stephen I (the Holy Right) is preserved here. The dome observation deck delivers a 360-degree city panorama. The square in front hosts summer concerts and a winter Christmas market. Church free (donation encouraged); observation deck about HUF 2,000. 3-minute walk from Metro M1 Bajcsy-Zsilinszky út.
Opening Hours
Mon-Sat 09:00-17:00, Sun 13:00-17:00 (observation deck: 10:00-18:30)
Travel Tips
An elevator makes the observation deck easily accessible. The Christmas market season (Nov-Dec) transforms the square beautifully.
