Overview
Built in 1896 for Hungary's millennial anniversary, the square is dominated by the 36m Millennium Monument. An archangel Gabriel statue tops the column, while the colonnade below depicts the seven Magyar chieftains and 14 key figures from Hungarian history on horseback. The Museum of Fine Arts and the Mucsarnok exhibition hall flank the square, drawing art lovers as well. Free to enter, and it connects directly to City Park.
