Built from 1872, this 2.5km boulevard lined with Neo-Renaissance mansions and boutiques earned the nickname 'Budapest's Champs-Elysees.' It runs from Deak Ferenc Square to Heroes' Square, passing the Hungarian State Opera House and the House of Terror museum along the way. Beneath it runs the M1 Millennium Underground, continental Europe's first metro line, and the entire avenue is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Free to stroll; runs parallel to the M1 metro line.
