Overview
This 2.5km green island in the middle of the Danube restricts car traffic, making it ideal for peaceful walks and cycling. Highlights include 13th-century monastery ruins, a Japanese garden, a musical fountain, and a rose garden; the island takes its name from Princess Margaret, sent to a convent here by King Bela IV as a prayer offering during the Mongol invasion. Outdoor thermal baths and sports facilities are scattered across the island. Free entry, between the Chain Bridge and Margaret Bridge, reachable by bus 26.
