Overview
Opened in 1849, this suspension bridge was the first permanent crossing between Buda and Pest. Designed by William Tierney Clark and supervised by Adam Clark, it is guarded by two pairs of lion statues. After a major restoration completed in 2023, it gleams anew. The illuminated bridge reflected in the Danube at night is the centerpiece of Budapest's famous nightscape. Free to cross. 5-minute walk from Metro M2 Batthyány tér or M1 Vörösmarty tér.
