Overview

Opened in 2001, the Osaka Museum of History stands directly above the ruins of Naniwa Palace, capital of ancient Japan in the 7th century. Starting from the top floor of the 10-story building and working down, visitors experience 2,000 years of Osaka's history in chronological order, with actual excavated palace pillar foundations visible in the basement level. The building's windows also offer a striking view straight toward Osaka Castle. Admission JPY 600. Directly connected to Tanimachi-yonchome Station (Tanimachi/Chuo Lines).
