Japan's food capital, often called the nation's kitchen, and a city bursting with energy. Dotonbori's glittering neon, Shinsekai's retro vibe, and Umeda's modern skyline each radiate their own charm. Strolling Dotonbori while eating takoyaki and okonomiyaki is an essential Osaka experience. Together with Universal Studios Japan, it is a city loved by both families and foodies.

Best Season

Best in spring (March-April) for cherry blossoms and autumn (October-November). Dotonbori is lively year-round.

Transport

From Kansai Airport, the Nankai Rapi:t reaches Namba in 34 minutes; from Tokyo, the Shinkansen takes 2 hours 30 minutes. The subway is most convenient in the city. SIM cards and pocket WiFi are available at the airport. ICOCA cards are convenient, and most places accept both cash and cards. Tipping is not customary.

Korean passport holders may enter visa-free for up to 90 days.

Safety

Very safe, but watch out for touts in the Minami nightlife district.
