Maasai Mara

마사이마라

Africa's premier wildlife reserve and a safari pilgrimage site for the annual Great Migration of millions of wildebeest. Spot all the Big Five, and witness dramatic river crossings at the Mara River — real-life nature documentaries. A hot air balloon safari over the endless savanna and a Maasai village visit add to the experience. A once-in-a-lifetime bucket-list destination.

Best Season

July-October during the Great Migration is best. January-February in the dry season is also excellent for game viewing.

Budget

Daily budget around 250,000-500,000 KRW (typically an all-inclusive lodge or camp package with meals and game drives).

Transport

From Nairobi, a light aircraft takes about 45 minutes; by road, 5-6 hours. Within the reserve, travel is only by safari vehicle. WiFi available at lodges/camps (limited speed). Prepare a SIM in Nairobi. Cash often unnecessary (covered by packages). Tipping safari guides $10-20/day and camp staff $5-10/day is customary.

Visa

Korean passport holders must apply for an eTA in advance (up to 90-day stay).

Safety

Never leave your safari vehicle. After dark, stay within your lodge or camp and follow your guide's instructions.
