Overview
Mount Suswa is a dormant volcano in the Great Rift Valley between Nairobi and the Masai Mara, home to one of Africa's largest calderas (about 12km across) with a forested inner crater nested within it. Hundreds of lava caves along the caldera walls are known as bat habitats, and trekking to the summit offers sweeping views of the entire Rift Valley. No public transport serves the area, so access requires a safari tour or 4WD vehicle.
