Overview
A Maasai Mara hot air balloon safari starts with a pre-dawn pickup from your camp and lifts off over the savanna just before sunrise, drifting for about an hour above herds of wildebeest, zebra, elephant, and giraffe slowly waking below. Sunrise over the African horizon is unforgettable. After landing, a 'bush breakfast' with champagne and a full meal is set up in the middle of the savanna, and a flight certificate is included. During the migration (July-October), you may see river crossings from above - truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Price USD 450-550 (with pickup and meal). Pickup from safari camps.
Travel Tips
Book at least a week ahead. The bush breakfast adds 1-2 hours after landing - clear your morning safari schedule. Bring warm layers and a hat, but it may get hot during the flight.
