Overview
Perched on a 385m cliff about 12 km north of Split, this medieval fortress has served as a stronghold since Roman times and was once home to Croatian kings. In the 16th century, it became a resistance base led by Croatian hero Petar Kružić against the Ottomans, renowned as nearly impregnable thanks to its narrow, rugged terrain. It gained worldwide fame as the walls of Meereen in HBO's Game of Thrones, and the summit offers panoramic views of Split, the Adriatic, and surrounding mountains. Admission about EUR 9.
