Overview
The Kasbah Museum occupies a 15th-century fortress in Outa el Hammam square at the heart of Chefchaouen's medina. Built by Moulay Ali Ben Rachid in 1471, the fortress features red earthen walls and ten watchtowers, enclosing a beautiful Andalusian-style garden. The museum displays regional history, weapons, traditional clothing, and photographs, and climbing the fortress tower rewards visitors with sweeping views of the medina and Rif Mountains. Small but worthwhile, it's a good starting point for understanding Chefchaouen's history. Admission MAD 10. Directly accessible from Outa el Hammam square.
Opening Hours
Wed-Mon 10:00-18:00 (closed Tuesdays)
Travel Tips
It's worth a visit given the low admission. The courtyard garden is a peaceful oasis away from the medina bustle, and don't miss the view from the top of the tower.
