Overview
Talassemtane National Park, established in 1975, covers about 580 square kilometers of limestone peaks and canyons in the Rif Mountains surrounding Chefchaouen. It hosts the world's largest natural stand of Spanish fir (Abies pinsapo) and is home to endangered Barbary macaques and Egyptian vultures. Famous hiking routes including Akchour Waterfalls and the Bridge of God (Pont de Dieu) all lie within the park, with wildflower-filled green valleys in spring and colorful canyons in autumn. Free entry (guided hikes recommended). About 30-40 minutes by car from Chefchaouen.
