Overview
Pont de Dieu is a massive natural bridge carved over millennia by the Akchour River eroding the limestone canyon, rising roughly 25 meters. It's reached by a 45-minute to 1-hour walk along the river from the small Akchour waterfall, where visitors can swim in the emerald pools beneath the arch or climb atop it for a sweeping view of the canyon. Located within Talassemtane National Park, designated part of the UNESCO Intercontinental Biosphere Reserve of the Mediterranean in 2006, it retains a wonderfully untouched, primal character. Free entry. About 40 minutes by taxi from Chefchaouen, then a 1-hour walk.
Travel Tips
Bring a swimsuit and a change of clothes if you plan to swim. Start early morning if you want to continue hiking to the big waterfall afterward.
