Ras el-Maa Waterfall

Medina East, Chefchaouen

Overview

Ras el-Maa is a small natural waterfall at the eastern edge of Chefchaouen's medina, fed by streams from the Rif Mountains. Though modest in size, it's a special place to witness everyday Moroccan life - local women doing laundry the traditional way and children playing in the water. Sit on the surrounding rocks to relax and enjoy the natural scenery behind the medina. Popular Rif Mountain hiking trails depart from here, and a 30-minute hike to the Spanish Mosque viewpoint rewards you with a panoramic view of Chefchaouen. Free admission. Walkable from within the medina.
