Souika Market

Medina South, Chefchaouen

Overview

Souika Market is a narrow market lane running south from Plaza Uta el-Hammam - its name meaning 'little souk' reflects a market far more modest and locally flavored than those of Marrakech or Fez. Stalls sell Rif Mountain specialties like goat cheese, honey, and olive oil alongside colorful hand-woven wool blankets and scarves made by Berber women. The weekly souk held nearby every Thursday and Sunday draws in residents from surrounding mountain villages for the liveliest scenes. Haggling is expected, and prices run well below tourist-area rates. Free entry. Five minutes on foot from Plaza Uta el-Hammam.

Opening Hours

Daily 09:00-19:00 (busiest during Thu/Sun morning weekly market)
