Overview
A prehistoric Minoan settlement buried under volcanic ash by the massive Santorini eruption in the 17th century BC. Dubbed 'the Aegean Pompeii', the site preserves two- and three-story buildings, an advanced drainage system, and stunning frescoes. The famous 'Spring Fresco' and 'Boxing Boys' mural are now in the National Archaeological Museum in Athens. Visitors walk through the excavation under a modern roof, experiencing daily life in an ancient civilization up close. Admission about EUR 12. About 30 minutes by bus from Fira.
