Overview
Standing on Cape Akrotiri at Santorini's southwestern tip, this lighthouse was built in 1892 by a French company, making it one of Greece's oldest. Its white stone tower and keeper's quarters survive, and it now operates automated. Far quieter than Oia or Fira, it's a hidden gem for watching the Aegean sunset without the crowds, and its proximity to Red Beach and Akrotiri archaeological site makes it easy to combine into one visit. A narrow unpaved cliff-top road leads to the site, so a rental car or ATV is useful. Free to view from outside. About 10 minutes by car from Akrotiri village.
Travel Tips
The unpaved road is best tackled by rental car or ATV. Visit at sunset for a peaceful, crowd-free experience.
