Agdal Gardens

Agdal, Marrakech

Overview

Agdal Gardens is a roughly 340-hectare royal orchard adjoining the palace grounds south of the medina, first laid out in the 12th century by the Almohad dynasty and expanded by successive rulers. Orange, pomegranate, and olive trees stand among an elaborate network of irrigation channels, and the view across the large Dar el-Hana reservoir toward the Atlas Mountains is spectacular. As royal property, it is not always open to the public and is often accessible only on weekends or certain periods, so check availability before visiting. Free entry when open. About 15 minutes by taxi from the medina.
