Overview
The Marrakech Museum opened in 1997 inside a palace built in the late 19th century by Mnebhi Pasha, a sultan's vizier, and holds a collection of traditional Moroccan and Islamic ceramics, coins, jewelry, costumes, and contemporary art. The central courtyard, once a hammam, has been converted into an exhibition hall and is crowned by a giant traditional Moroccan chandelier - the museum's most memorable sight. The palace's own architecture, decorated with intricate zellige tile and carved stucco, is a highlight in itself, and the rooftop cafe is a pleasant place to rest with tea. Admission MAD 60 (combined ticket available with Ben Youssef Madrasa and the Almoravid Koubba). Right next to Ben Youssef Madrasa.
