Menara Gardens

Menara, Marrakech

Overview

Menara Gardens is a vast olive grove laid out in the 12th century under the Almohad dynasty, centered on a large reservoir (saqiya) and a green-roofed pavilion added by the Alaouite dynasty in 1866. The reservoir was built to irrigate the surrounding orchards, and on clear days the pavilion's reflection paired with the snow-capped Atlas Mountains makes it one of Marrakech's most photographed views. The broad lawns and olive-tree shade are also popular with locals for picnics. Garden entry is free; the pavilion interior costs MAD 40. About 15 minutes by taxi from the medina.

Opening Hours

Daily 08:00-18:30 (until 19:00 in summer)

Travel Tips

Visit on a clear winter or spring morning to see snow-capped Atlas peaks beyond the reservoir. There's little shade, so avoid midsummer afternoons.
