Dar Si Said (Museum of Moroccan Arts)

Kasbah, Marrakech

Overview

Dar Si Said was built in the late 19th century by Si Said, brother of Grand Vizier Ba Ahmed who built Bahia Palace, and now houses a museum of traditional Moroccan crafts. Highlights include carpets and jewelry from Berber tribes of the High Atlas and Rif Mountains, leatherwork, and an especially fine woodwork collection of intricately carved cedar doors and furniture. The mansion itself, with its zellige-tiled and stucco-carved courtyard, is worth admiring as architecture in its own right. Admission MAD 40. About 5 minutes on foot from Bahia Palace.
