Overview
Ourika Valley lies along the Ourika River at the northern foot of the High Atlas Mountains, about an hour's drive from Marrakech. Terraced fields and traditional Berber villages line the river, and from the end-point village of Setti Fatma, a gentle 1-2 hour hike leads to a seven-tiered waterfall. In summer, riverside restaurants with low seating tables fill with locals escaping Marrakech's heat for the cool mountain air, while winter dusts the peaks with snow for a different look entirely. Free entry (tipping waterfall guides is customary). About an hour from Marrakech by grand taxi or organized tour.
