Overview

The view from the northern lakeshore looking back at the village is one of the world's most photographed scenes. With the Dachstein massif as a backdrop, pastel wooden houses, the church steeple, and the emerald lake all fit into one frame, mirrored in the still water in a scene almost too beautiful to be real. Early morning or just before sunset offers the best light. Free to visit. About 5 minutes on foot north of the ferry dock.
